The  8th of March  is a day to celebrate women's achievements and to raise awareness of the need to take action for gender equality. WRITE A LETTER TO CELEBRATE LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP! At IES Calatalifa we want to celebrate the 14th of February by writing letters to our beloved ones. So don't miss the opportunity to tell that special person that you love, admire or worship them. You just have to write a letter with clear handwriting and address it to your special friend or sweetheart. Then, hand in your letter so that your teacher puts it into our mailbox, and on Valentine's Day all letters will be handed out to their corresponding recipients. This year Thanksgiving Day occurs on Thursday, November 28. It is a national holiday in the United States, and people travel great distances to be with their families for this occasion. The tradition started with the Pilgrim Fathers, the founders of a colony in North America. in 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. Today the traditional Thanksgiving meal is similar to the first. People eat roast turkey with cranberry sauce, potatoes, corn and pumpkin pie.
